The Gundog Division consists of both the Gundog Pack and Gundog Brace Dogs. Clubs may hold trials in one or both formats. In the Gundog Pack Division, dogs are ran in casts of 5 except for the winner's pack which can be up to 7 dogs. Dogs in the winners pack are fired over. Any number of dogs from a cast can be brought back to run in the next series. Hounds are placed 1st through 5th. In the Gundog Brace Division dogs are ran in a brace (pair) or a trio (3) if numbers warrant it. Hounds are place 1st through 10th. In both formats the judges look for dogs with hunt, line control, and close check work among other things. Speed is not an issue as long as the hound is running the line in a correct fashion as scenting conditions allow. Slow, pottering, do-nothing hounds will be disqualified.
